MESSAGE OF THE DAY
God is not too hard to believe in. God is too good to believe in,
we being such strangers to such goodness. The love of God is to me
absolutely overwhelming.

SCRIPTURE READINGS
http://www.nccbuscc.org/nab/
Acts 11:19-26; Ps. 87:1b-3, 4-5, 6-7; Jn 10:22-30
R. (117:1a) All you nations, praise the Lord.
His foundation upon the holy mountains
the LORD loves:
The gates of Zion,
more than any dwelling of Jacob.
Glorious things are said of you,
O city of God!
I tell of Egypt and Babylon
among those who know the LORD;
Of Philistia, Tyre, Ethiopia:
"This man was born there."
And of Zion they shall say:
"One and all were born in her;
And he who has established her
is the Most High LORD."
They shall note, when the peoples are enrolled:
"This man was born there."
And all shall sing, in their festive dance:
"My home is within you."

GOSPEL MEDITATION
- from http://www.dailyscripture.net/
Jesus also promises the security of peace and protection from evil
and the greatest harm that could befall us - eternal destruction.
The Lord does not spare us from all trouble. In this life we will
experience pain, suffering, sickness, and death. But through these
the Lord will lead us to ultimate victory and safety in his
everlasting home. Even in the midst of our sufferings we can find a
peace and security which no one can give except God alone. We can
confidently follow the Lord wherever he leads, trusting that
nothing can keep us from God if we trust in him. Have you placed
your life securely in God where it belongs?
"Lord Jesus, you are the Good Shepherd. In you I place all my hope
and I entrust myself to you completely. Increase my confidence in
your saving grace and in your abiding presence."

NOTES FROM A CLASSICAL WORK
"Sayings of Light and Love," by St. John of the Cross (jottings
from his notebooks)
57. It is not God's will that a soul be disturbed by anything or
suffer trials, for if one suffers trials in the adversities of the
world it is because of a weakness in virtue. The perfect soul
rejoices in what afflicts the imperfect one.
