MESSAGE OF THE DAY
"O consuming Fire, Spirit of Love, 'come upon me,' and create in my
soul a kind of incarnation of the Word: that I may be another
humanity for Him in which He can renew His whole Mystery. And You,
O Father, bend lovingly over Your poor little creature, 'cover her
with Your shadow,' seeing in her only the 'Beloved in whom You are
well pleased.'"

SCRIPTURE READINGS
http://www.nccbuscc.org/nab/
1 Jn 4:19-5:4; Ps. 72:1-2, 14 and 15bc, 17; Lk 4:14-22
R. (see 11) Lord, every nation on earth will adore you.
O God, with your judgment endow the king,
and with your justice, the king's son;
He shall govern your people with justice
and your afflicted ones with judgment.
From fraud and violence he shall redeem them,
and precious shall their blood be in his sight.
May they be prayed for continually;
day by day shall they bless him.
May his name be blessed forever;
as long as the sun his name shall remain.
In him shall all the tribes of the earth be blessed;
all the nations shall proclaim his happiness.

NOTES FROM A CLASSICAL WORK
- "Imitation of Christ," by Thomas A. Kempis
Calling Upon God During Troubled Times
But here, in the midst of these troubles, what shall I say? Your will
be done, Lord. I have richly deserved to be troubled and distressed.
But I must bear it. Would that I could do so patiently, until the
storm passes and calm returns! Yet Your almighty hand can take this
temptation from me, or lighten its attack so that I do not altogether
sink beneath it, as You, my God, my Mercy, have very often done for
me before. And the more difficult my plight, the easier for You is this
change of the right hand of the Most High.
