MESSAGE OF THE DAY

I have been asked what God is doing in heaven. I answer; He has
been giving his Son birth eternally, is giving him birth now and
will go on giving him birth forever. The Father being in labor, as
a woman giving birth to a child, in every virtuous soul.

Is 35:1-10; Ps 85:9ab and 10, 11-12, 13-14; ; Lk 5:17-26

R. (Isaiah 35:4f) Our God will come to save us!

I will hear what God proclaims;
the LORD -for he proclaims peace to his people.
Near indeed is his salvation to those who fear him,
glory dwelling in our land.

Kindness and truth shall meet;
justice and peace shall kiss.
Truth shall spring out of the earth,
and justice shall look down from heaven.

The LORD himself will give his benefits;
our land shall yield its increase.
Justice shall walk before him,
and salvation, along the way of his steps.

Advent Reflections

Second Monday of Advent
Isaiah 35:1-10
Luke 5:17-26

Before Jesus healed the paralytic of his physical ailment Jesus
rewarded him and his friends who had great faith with the gift of
forgiveness.

One of the burdens that can keep us in darkness is the knowledge
that we have sinned. Our faith tells us that God is always ready
to forgive us but sometimes we find it difficult to forgive
ourselves. God is anxious to offer us forgiveness and to have us
accept this gift of healing. Forgiveness from God followed by
forgiveness of oneself is healing.

* Can we get off the mat of our own brokenness by forgiving
ourselves when we have done wrong?

* Can we accept the forgiveness that is so generously offered to us
and walk toward God's love?

LECTIO DIVINA METHOD (Benedictine Approach)

1. Relax. Settle in. Be aware that God is here, now, loving you.
2. Read a short passage of Scripture as though God were speaking
directly to you in it.
3. Choose a phrase from the passage that strikes you and repeat it
slowly, prayerfully, non-analytically.
4. When your heart is full, express to God the needs and sentiments
awakened by your meditation. When you're done, read another passage
and repeat steps 3 and 4.
5. If, at any time, you feel moved to simply be present to God in
loving silence, put the Scripture aside and rest in God.
