R. (cf. 1) Let us go rejoicing to the house of the Lord.
I rejoiced because they said to me,
"We will go up to the house of the LORD."
And now we have set foot
within your gates, O Jerusalem.
Jerusalem, built as a city
with compact unity.
To it the tribes go up,
the tribes of the LORD.
According to the decree for Israel,
to give thanks to the name of the LORD.
In it are set up judgment seats,

SAINT OF THE WEEK
- November 25th. St. Catherine of Alexandria.
Tradition has it that she was a Christian of noble birth, living in
the 4th. century, who declared herself a Bride of Christ, refused
to marry the Emperor and successfully argued her case against fifty
wise men sent to convince her of the error of her ways. She was
tortured on a wheel (hence the Catherine Wheel of firework
displays) but the wheel broke apart and she was ultimately
beheaded. The cult of St. Catherine centres on the famous monastery
at the foot of Mount Sinai which bears her name. Although scholars
maintain that none of this story is true.(and she was indeed
removed from the revised Roman Calendar in 1969), she enjoyed
immense popularity thanks to the influence of the Crusaders and the
widely distributed medieval "Golden Legend" with its lives of
saints. She was the patron of, among others, wheelwrights and
philosophers; in England alone there are even now nearly 40 sets of
medieval wall-paintings of her life.

BOOK OF THE WEEK
"How Big is Your God: the freedom to experience the Divine," by
Paul Coutinho SJ. Loyola Press, 2007.
Need a shot in the arm? No, not a flu shot, but a shot that will
help one to grow deeper and stronger in one's faith by embracing a
God whose love knows no bounds. This book is that shot in the arm,
or is it in the heart? Coutinho wants his readers to open their
hearts and minds to personally learn the true purpose of religion.
His chapter headings are invitations to read an author who has deep
spiritual depth and a great sense of humor. Some of the chapter
headings are:
Are you ready?
Do you want peace ... without batting an eye? Disposable images of
God
Can you have a God beyond names? A honeymoon with God
Confession, celebration of divine presence What do you want on your
tombstone? Do you react or respond to life?
Are you running for fun or for your life?
(Thanks to Sr. Irene Hartman, O.P. for this review.)

This amazing girl claims to have had visions of heaven at an early
age (her parents were atheists). Her luminous artwork gives strong
evidence to her claim. After you enter the site, take some time to
read about her life (the Questions and Answers link is most
illuminating) and the gallery link under Her Art. Enjoy . . .

JOKE OF THE WEEK
Linda was with her mother while her older sister was being examined
by a dentist. Linda kept herself busy playing with toys in the
waiting room until she noticed that her mom was resting, her eyes
closed.
With about six other patients waiting, Linda marched up to her
mother, looked her straight in the face and shook her shoulder.
"Mommy," she yelled, "wake up! This is not church!"
