* Thanksgiving holiday, U.S.A. *
The Pilgrims made seven times more graves than huts. No Americans
have been more impoverished than these who, nevertheless, set aside
a day of thanksgiving.
~H.U. Westermayer
If the only prayer you said in your whole life was, "thank you,"
that would suffice.
~Meister Eckhart

SCRIPTURE READINGS
http://www.nccbuscc.org/nab/
Sir 50:22-24; Ps 138:1-2a, 2bc-3, 4-5; 1 Cor 1:3-9; Lk 19:
41-44
R. (2bc) Lord, I thank you for your faithfulness and love.
I will give thanks to you, O LORD, with all of my heart,
for you have heard the words of my mouth;
in the presence of the angels I will sing your praise;
I will worship at your holy temple.
I will give thanks to your name,
Because of your kindness and your truth.
When I called, you answered me;
you built up strength within me.
All the kings of the earth shall give thanks to you, O LORD,
when they hear the words of your mouth;
And they shall sing of the ways of the LORD:
"Great is the glory of the LORD."

Praying the Daily Gospels

- Luke 19: 41-44 (Jesus weeps over Jerusalem)
God wants so very much for us, and we often settle for so very
little! This is what Jesus laments as he stands outside the gates
of Jerusalem, longing to share with the people of the city his many
graces. He knows he will be rejected, however, so he weeps for the
suffering this will bring to his people.
- What are some reasons why we settle for less than what God wants
to give us? With which of these blocks to growth have you recently
struggled?
- Are you satisfied with the promises made and goods delivered by
proponents of the great American dream? Why? Why not?
- Pray for the grace to hunger for the things of God.

THE IMITATION OF CHRIST
- by Thomas a Kempis -
The Voice of Christ
MY CHILD, you should give all for all, and in no way belong to
yourself. You must know that self-love (selfishness) is more
harmful to you than
anything else in the world. In proportion to the love and
affection
you have for a thing, it will cling to you more or less. If your
love
is pure, simple, and well ordered, you will not be a slave to
anything. Do not covet what you may not have. Do not possess
anything
that can hinder you or rob you of freedom.
