Message of 11-13-07

We began the year with almost 3,000 subscribers to Daily Spiritual
Seed and we close with only 1,000 or so.
What happened?
Back in May, the listserve I was using (ymlp.com) to send Daily
Seed tripled its fee and gave me two weeks' notice to comply with
their new schedule. I paid for another month but decided to look
around for another listserve, finally finding a less expensive
alternative (aweber.com) that provided many more options. There
was one catch, however. Their spam mail guidelines are so strict
that they wouldn't allow me to simply transfer the list addresses;
everyone would need to re-subscribe, which seemed easy enough.
Well, apparently it wasn't. Lost of subscribers said they didn't
understand why they had to subscribe again; others said they tried
and failed. It was a tech support nightmare for a few weeks, and
we lost 2,000 subscribers along the way. I hadn't anticipated that
and was most disappointed that so many dropped off. If you're
reading this, you obviously made the transition, or have subscribed
since.
Thank you for being part of this ministry.

MESSAGE OF THE DAY
What should we set as our ultimate goal in this life? The answer:
the most perfect worshipers of God we can possibly be.... I sought
no more than how to be God's and God's alone. My goal made me
resolve to give my all for the All.... Always I worshiped Him as
often as I could, keeping my mind in His holy presence. When I
wandered I brought Him back to my mind.... At all times, every
hour, every minute, even at the busiest times. I drove away from my
mind everything capable of spoiling the sense of the presence of
God.... I just make it my business to persevere in His holy
presence... My soul has had an habitual, silent, secret
conversation with God.

SCRIPTURE READINGS
http://www.nccbuscc.org/nab/
Wis 2:23-3:9; Ps 34:2-3, 16-17, 18-19; Lk 17:7-10
R. (2a) I will bless the Lord at all times.
I will bless the LORD at all times;
his praise shall be ever in my mouth.
Let my soul glory in the LORD;
the lowly will hear me and be glad.
The LORD has eyes for the just,
and ears for their cry.
The LORD confronts the evildoers,
to destroy remembrance of them from the earth.
When the just cry out, the LORD hears them,
and from all their distress he rescues them.
The LORD is close to the brokenhearted;
and those who are crushed in spirit he saves.

Praying the Daily Gospels

- Luke 17: 7-10 (Christian duty)
There are many times when we feel that our ministries of service
should entitle us to extraordinary recognition. This temptation to
impress others with our goodness should be countered by an
admission that what we have done is not extraordinary but rather
our duty.
- What are some reasons why you fear reaching out? Resolve to
work through at least one of these blocks to relationship.
- What are some of the ways you can affirm your loved ones
for their love "duties" which you have recently taken for granted?

SAYINGS OF LIGHT AND LOVE
by St. John of the Cross
- jottings from his notebooks
29. A soul enkindled with love is a gentle, meek, humble, and
patient soul.
30. A soul that is hard because of self-love grows harder.
31. O good Jesus, if you do not soften it, it will ever continue in
its natural hardness.
