R. (cf. 1) I will praise your name for ever, my king and my God.
I will extol you, O my God and King,
and I will bless your name forever and ever.
Every day will I bless you,
and I will praise your name forever and ever.
The LORD is gracious and merciful,
slow to anger and of great kindness.
The LORD is good to all
and compassionate toward all his works.
Let all your works give you thanks, O LORD,
and let your faithful ones bless you.
Let them discourse of the glory of your kingdom
and speak of your might.
The LORD is faithful in all his words
and holy in all his works.
The LORD lifts up all who are falling
and raises up all who are bowed down.

SAINT OF THE WEEK
- November 6th. St. Leonard.
That the seaside town near Hastings is named after this 6th.
century hermit who lived near Limoges in central France is witness
to the spread of the cult of this saint. Nearly 180 medieval
English churches are dedicated to him. He was a nobleman, baptised
by St. Remi of Rheims (+533), with the King of the Franks, Clovis,
as his godfather. Declining the offer of a bishopric, he became a
hermit; through his prayers, Clovis' wife survived a difficult
pregnancy and in gratitude the King offered him a large tract of
land around his hermitage at Noblac (now named St. Leonard after
him). It was here that he founded an abbey, where he was to be
buried - the foundation greatly aided the spread of the cult of his
sanctity. He is the patron saint of pregnant women and also of
prisoners of war - thanks to a visit to his shrine by the crusader
prince Bohemond, released from a Moslem prison in 1103.

BOOK OF THE WEEK
"Ninety Minutes in Heaven: a true story of death and life," by Don
Piper. Revell, 2004.
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0800759494/christianspiritu/
This is a book which one should start reading only when one has
several free hours ahead, for it is impossible to set it down until
the book has ended.
Don Piper was in a terrible accident which left his body mangled
and torn, helpless in the ruins of his car. Paramedics reached the
scene within minutes. There was no pulse. Medical personnel said he
died instantly. Then for him began the glories of heaven with its
wonderful beauty and glorious music amid light and bliss that
wouldn't quit. In the meantime Jaws of life took his lifeless body
from the wreckage.
A Baptist minister who never made it a practice to pray for the
dead, was moved to begin praying for Don Piper. Within ninety
minutes, Piper left the inexpressible heavenly bliss he was
enjoying and returned to life on earth. His painful recovery began
and lasted for many months. In the terribly excruciating pain of
therapy, Piper often questioned God, "Why did You bring me back to
life? Death would be preferable. The glorious experience I had of
heaven ... why did You take that away?"
This book offers a glimpse into a very real dimension of God's
reality, and the beauty of an after life. It may give courage to
those recovering from serious injuries and those dealing with the
loss of loved ones.

Atlas on Endangered Languages
- http://tinyurl.com/9wewp
This atlas is kept by the UNESCO to note parts of the world where
native languages reach extinction. Most seem to be from Africa,
where native populations are intermingling with other tribes.
Click on the map of Africa to learn more about these groups and
their languages. Very interesting.
"Why preserve language diversity?"
"Language diversity is essential to the human heritage. Each and
every language embodies the unique cultural wisdom of a people. The
loss of any language is thus a loss for all humanity. Although
approximately 6,000 languages still exist, many are under threat.
There is an imperative need for language documentation, new
methods, new policy initiatives and safeguarding strategies to
enhance the vitality of these languages. The cooperative efforts of
language communities, language professionals, NGOs and governments
will be indispensable in countering this threat. There is a
pressing need to build support for language communities in their
efforts to establish meaningful new roles for their endangered
languages. "

JOKE OF THE WEEK
(Here's one for for the women)
-----Top Ten Reasons Eve Was Created
10. God was worried that Adam would frequently become lost in the
garden because he would not ask for directions.
9. God knew that one day Adam would require someone to locate and
hand him the remote.
8. God knew Adam would never go out and buy himself a new fig leaf
when his wore out and would therefore need Eve to buy one for him.
7. God knew Adam would never be able to make a doctor's, dentist,
or haircut appointment for himself.
6. God knew Adam would never remember which night to put the
garbage on the curb.
5. God knew if the world was to be populated, men would never be
able to handle the pain and discomfort of childbearing.
4. As the Keeper of the Garden, Adam would never remember where he
left his tools.
3. Apparently, Adam needed someone to blame his troubles on when
God caught him hiding in the garden.
2. As the Bible says, It is not good for man to be alone!
And the #1 reason why God created Eve...
1. When God finished the creation of Adam, He stepped back,
scratched his head, and said, "I can do better than that!"
