Dear Daily Spiritual Seed subscribers,
Picky spam filters on AOL and a number of other web hosts have been
blocking Daily Spiritual Seed lately, resulting in dropped
subscriptions. To help remedy this situation, I will be sending
Daily Spiritual Seed in plain text mode only. What this means is
no more stylized text (boldface, colors), no active links, and no
pictures, as the html format for those features apparently triggers
some spam filters. We'll stick to substance over style hope this
resolves the problem.

MESSAGE OF THE DAY
What about you? What precious perfume is locked inside your heart
that could be lavished on our Lord? The little treasures you and I
struggle to hold on to may hold back opportunities to worship Him
with extravagant praise, releasing ministry and service to Him that
will bless all those around us.

SCRIPTURE READINGS
http://www.nccbuscc.org/nab/
Col 1:9-14; Ps 98:2-3ab, 3cd-4, 5-6; Lk 5:1-11
R. (2) The Lord has made known his salvation.
The LORD has made his salvation known:
in the sight of the nations he has revealed his justice.
He has remembered his kindness and his faithfulness
toward the house of Israel.
All the ends of the earth have seen
the salvation by our God.
Sing joyfully to the LORD, all you lands;
break into song; sing praise.
Sing praise to the LORD with the harp,
with the harp and melodious song.
With trumpets and the sound of the horn
sing joyfully before the King, the LORD.

Praying the Daily Gospels
- by Philip St. Romain:

- Luke 5: 1-11 (The apostles called.)
We often believe that our successes are due entirely to our own
efforts, hence we cultivate a self- righteous attitude that we
deserve God's favor. In today's reading Jesus teaches four
professional fishermen that without God's grace they cannot catch
even one fish. The fishermen respond by following their Lord.
- Work as if everything depended on you, and pray as if everything
depended on God," Ignatius of Loyola advised. How close is this to
your own attitude concerning work and grace?
- Spend some time with the passage "Do not be afraid. From now on
you will be catching people." Allow God's desire to minister
through you to pervade your entire being.

THE IMITATION OF CHRIST
- by Thomas a Kempis -
(A prayer for enlightening the mind)
Send forth Your light and Your truth to shine on the earth, for
I am
as earth, empty and formless until You illumine me. Pour out Your
grace from above. Shower my heart with heavenly dew. Open the
springs
of devotion to water the earth, that it may produce the best of
good
fruits. Lift up my heart pressed down by the weight of sins, and
direct all my desires to heavenly things, that having tasted the
sweetness of supernal happiness, I may find no pleasure in
thinking of
earthly things.
