MESSAGE OF THE DAY
I surrendered unto Him all there was of me; everything! Then for the first time I realized what it meant to have real power.
- Kathryn Kuhlman
(Have you think of a time when you've made such a surrender? What about now?)

(see 4a) The Lord takes delight in his people.
Sing to the LORD a new song
of praise in the assembly of the faithful.
Let Israel be glad in their maker,
let the children of Zion rejoice in their king.
Let them praise his name in the festive dance,
let them sing praise to him with timbrel and harp.
For the LORD loves his people,
and he adorns the lowly with victory.
Let the faithful exult in glory;
let them sing for joy upon their couches;
Let the high praises of God be in their throats.
This is the glory of all his faithful. Alleluia!

- Matthew 23: 13-22 (Jesus confronts the Jewish authorities)
The goal of love is to nurture people toward growth. In today’s reading we see Jesus confronting several erroneous practices of the scribes and Pharisees, challenging them to recognize their hypocrisy.
• Do
you find it hard to confront a friend or relative who is doing wrong?
Can you ask a person who seems to be in a rut how he or she is without
being nosey?
• How would you respond to a person who says, Christians should mind their own business unless something or someone affects them personally”?
• Pray for the grace to care enough for others to challenge them to grow.

THEOLOGICAL GEMS FROM EMIL MERCH'S THEOLOGY OF THE MYSTICAL BODY
from http://www.innerexplorations.com/chtheomortext/theolgems.htm
217. God is Being itself; the human nature is something that shares in being, and absolutely nothing else.
Everything that exists, in every particle of its being, exists only by having being from Him.

LECTIO DIVINA METHOD (Benedictine Approach)
1. Relax. Settle in. Be aware that God is here, now, loving you.
2. Read a short passage of Scripture as though God were speaking directly to you in it.
3. Choose a phrase from the passage that strikes you and repeat it slowly, prayerfully, non-analytically.
4. When your heart is full, express to God the needs and sentiments awakened by your meditation. When you're done, read another passage and repeat steps 3 and 4.
5. If, at any time, you feel moved to simply be present to God in loving silence, put the Scripture aside and rest in God.
