MESSAGE OF THE DAY
"Free will is the ruler of the soul. It is free by nature and
still more free by grace. It shall be crowned with a crown that is
called charity."
- John of Rusybroeck, "Adornment of the Spiritual Marriage,"
ch. 24
(The most truly human exercise of freedom is to choose love. Let
this be your disposition today.)

SCRIPTURE READINGS
http://www.nccbuscc.org/nab/
Rv 14:14-19; Ps 96:10, 11-12, 13; Lk 21:5-11
R. (13b) The Lord comes to judge the earth.
Say among the nations: The LORD is king.
He has made the world firm, not to be moved;
he governs the peoples with equity.
Let the heavens be glad and the earth rejoice;
let the sea and what fills it resound;
let the plains be joyful and all that is in them!
Then shall all the trees of the forest exult.
Before the LORD, for he comes;
for he comes to rule the earth.
He shall rule the world with justice
and the peoples with his constancy.

GOSPEL MEDITATION
- from http://www.dailyscripture.net/
The Lord Jesus tells us that there will be persecution, suffering,
and difficulties in this age until he comes again at the end of the
world. God intends our anticipation of his final judgment to be a
powerful deterrent to wrongdoing. God extends grace and mercy to
all who will heed his call and his warning. Do you take advantage
of this season of grace and mercy to seek God's kingdom and to
pursue his will?
"Lord Jesus, your grace and mercy abounds even in the midst of
turmoil and destruction. Increase my hunger for your kingdom and
help me to be faithful to your word. May nothing, not even the fear
of death or the loss of all that I have, deter me from seeking you
and the coming of your kingdom with hope and joy."

NOTES FROM A CLASSICAL WORK

from his notebooks)
88. Preserve a loving attentiveness to God with no desire to feel
or understand any particular thing concerning him.
