ANNUAL APPEAL
Daily Spiritual Seed is what in email list circles is called an
"announcement newsletter." What this means is that only the list
owner can send to the group and any responses come back to the
owner rather than the entire list. We have, through the years,
invited participation and discussion through a separate email list,
which is advertised on occasion, but which has been relatively
inactive for some time.
Another resource to process some of the teachings and ideas
presented on Daily Seed is the Shalom Place Discussion Forum, and
it has been quite active through the years. Although we do not
restrict topics to those mentioned in the newsletter, several of
the forums do pertain to spirituality, morality, theology, and
contemplative issues. The last report I sent out on the discussion
forum for October 08 listed these stats:
924 registered members (total)
74,560 page views (for October)
11 forums open
2,019 topics open
33,086 posts
As with Daily Spiritual Seed, the discussion forum is open to
anyone without cost. Unregistered guests have access to all of the
forums and may even use the search to find the topics that interest
them. Only registered members may start new topics or post
comments, however.

discussion board.

MESSAGE OF THE DAY
"This is the sign by which to recognize those who have arrived at
perfection: even if they were to throw themselves into the fire ten
times a day for the sake of humanity, they would not be satisfied.
. . That is why the blessed apostle Paul says: 'I could wish that I
myself were accursed and cut off from Christ for the sake of my
brethren (Rm 9: 3)'"
- Isaac of Nineveh, "Ascetic Treatises," 81 -
(Divine love never tires of spending itself for the good of others.
Pray the grace to be motivated by this love today.)

SCRIPTURE READINGS
http://www.nccbuscc.org/nab/
Rv 5:1-10; Ps 149:1b-2, 3-4, 5-6a and 9b; Lk 19:41-44
R. (Rev. 5:10) The Lamb has made us a kingdom of priests to serve
our God.
Sing to the LORD a new song
of praise in the assembly of the faithful.
Let Israel be glad in their maker,
let the children of Zion rejoice in their king.
Let them praise his name in the festive dance,
let them sing praise to him with timbrel and harp.
For the LORD loves his people,
and he adorns the lowly with victory.
Let the faithful exult in glory;
let them sing for joy upon their couches;
Let the high praises of God be in their throats.
This is the glory of all his faithful. Alleluia.

GOSPEL MEDITATION
- from "Daily Bread"
http://www.preacherexchange.com/daily_bread.htm
"They sang a new hymn: 'Worthy are you ...'
There is weeping over the destruction of the old and rejoicing over
the birth of the new. This is the human story. We weep over the
good that is lost, the blessed comfort of familiar ways and dear
old things. To weep too little is to disrespect what has gone
before. To weep too much is to miss the good that is coming.
Always there is good that is coming -- a new song to sing to the One
who promises, "Behold, I make all things new."
"Lord Jesus, make us brave and help us trust in the Good that waits
for us in the shadow of the cross."

NOTES FROM A CLASSICAL WORK
- "Imitation of Christ," by Thomas A. Kempis
The Disciple
Let Your name, not mine, be praised. Let Your work, not mine, be
magnified. Let Your holy name be blessed, but let no human
praise be
given to me. You are my glory. You are the joy of my heart. In
You I
will glory and rejoice all the day, and for myself I will glory in
nothing but my infirmities.
