(Message of the day and other readings below.) This year’s gratitude gift to all donors will be a free-admission coupon to an online course, Christian Prayer Methods. ------------------------------- This past year marked the beginning of explorations into new areas of Internet ministry. In addition to maintaining what was
already established (Daily Spiritual Seed, discussion board, online resources at shalomplace.com), we offered several webinars on a range of topics: Focusing, How the New Testament Came to Be, Christian Prayer, and God, and the Problem of Suffering. Attendance was fair for all of these, with two of the webinars now residing on youtube. Additionally, God and the Problem of Suffering became a short book that is offered through shalomplace.com (free
in digital formats). I hope to continue with the webinar offerings, perhaps even having books discussions and open forum gatherings. Look for more courses as well through udemy.com Stay
tuned. Peace, Phil - - - Tax-deductible Donation

Someone asked Abba Anthony, “What must one do in order to please God?”
The old man replied, “Pay attention to what I
tell you: whoever you may be, always have God before your eyes; whatever you do, do it according to the testimony of the holy Scriptures; in whatever place you live, do not easily leave it. Keep these three precepts and you will be saved.” - Anthony the Great
(What do you think of these three precepts? How does your life stand in relation to them?)

R. The Lord upholds
me.
O LORD, how many are my adversaries! Many rise up against me! Many are saying of me, “There is no salvation for him in God.”
But you, O LORD, are my shield; my glory, you lift up my head! When I call out to the LORD, he answers me from his holy mountain.
When I lie down in sleep, I wake again, for the LORD sustains me. I fear not the myriads of people arrayed against me on every side.

Reflection on the Scriptures |
As a tax collector, Zacchaeus is considered by the crowd to be unworthy of Christ's attention. He not
only receives Christ's attention, Christ wants to stay at his house! As part of this encounter with Christ, Zacchaeus receives the gifts of faith and love freeing him from his selfcentered focus on amassing wealth. He puts Christ at the center of his life which frees Zacchaeus to imitate Christ's mercy and love by giving half of his possessions to the poor and making restitution to those he may have cheated.
So much can be learned from this gospel account. We learn that even though we are unworthy of Christ's attention, he will seek us out and he will stay with us. If we choose to acknowledge His loving presence, we will be freed of our self-centered focus and able to share his abundant love with
others.

Revelations of Divine Love - by Julian of
Norwich Chapter
9
“If I look singularly to myself, I am right nought”
BECAUSE of the Shewing I am not good
but if I love God the better: and in as much as ye love God the better, it is more to you than to me. I say not this to them that be wise, for they wot it well; but I say it to you that be simple, for ease and comfort: for we are all one in comfort. For truly it was not shewed me that God loved me better than the least soul that is in grace; for I am certain that there be many that never had Shewing nor sight but of the common teaching of Holy Church, that love God better than I. For if I look
singularly to myself, I am right nought; but in [the] general [Body] I am, I hope, in oneness of charity with all mine even-Christians.
