The author offers “three moments of the day” to assist readers in being enriched in his/her spiritual journey. These three moments
are the morning offering, evening reflection or examen, and taking some time to ponder the gift of the Eucharist . These moments can easily be inserted into the life of one eager to advance in the love of God. The author bases his teachings on the devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and Ignatius spirituality.
Searchers in today’s hectic world are eager for a way to quiet themselves and to stay in tune with the inner whisperings of the
Holy Spirit. Searchers are invited to let Jesus love them and heal them of all their wounds. This invitation helps one encounter the fire of the Sacred Heart, the fire of an unconditional love.
In the forward by James Kubicki S.J., he tells the readers that Dr. Victor Frankl who had survived the Nazi concentration camps, says that the most basic need of humans is a sense of
purpose. “After one’s physical needs are met, every human being needs to have a sense of purpose, a reason for living.” Collins bases his book on that need, which for Christians is the need to love and to be loved.
Collins devotes two chapters to the morning offering, three to the examen, and three to the Eucharist. Each chapter begins with a prayer or quote from Scripture and ends with
an invitation, a prayer, and a series of reflective questions.
The author ends this book in the last chapter on the Eucharist with this statement: “How can you let your own heart, united with the Sacred Heart of Jesus, be blessed, broken, and given away freely in daily life? Ask for that grace.”
