MESSAGE OF THE DAY

The greatest privilege God gives to you is the freedom to approach
Him at any time. You are not only authorized to speak to Him; you
are invited. You are not only permitted; you are expected. God
waits for you to communicate with Him. You have instant, direct
access to God. God loves mankind so much, and in a very special
sense His children, that He has made Himself available to you at
all times.
- Wesley L. Duewel

LECTIONARY READINGS FOR THE DAY
http://www.nccbuscc.org/nab/

Heb 10:19-25; Ps 24:1-2, 3-4ab, 5-6; Mk 4:21-25

R. (see 6) Lord, this is the people that longs to see your face.

The LORD's are the earth and its fullness;
the world and those who dwell in it.
For he founded it upon the seas
and established it upon the rivers.

Who can ascend the mountain of the LORD?
or who may stand in his holy place?
He whose hands are sinless, whose heart is clean,
who desires not what is vain.

He shall receive a blessing from the LORD,
a reward from God his savior.
Such is the race that seeks for him,
that seeks the face of the God of Jacob.

MEDITATION ON THE GOSPEL
- from "Daily Bread"
http://www.preacherexchange.com/daily_bread.htm

"The measure with which you measure will be measured out to you."

Angela Merici, after a distressing childhood -- orphaned at age 10,
losing her older sister to sudden death -- became a teacher of young
girls and began founding schools for them in northern Italy. She
gathered other young women to become teachers. While she was
visiting Rome, Pope Clement VII asked Angela to move her ministry
there, but she returned to her own area. Before she died, she and
12 companions founded a teaching order known as the Ursulines
because it was placed under the patronage of St. Ursula. From an
unpromising beginning, this young woman gave her life completely to
the religious formation of needy and otherwise ignored young girls.

SPIRITUAL READING
- "Imitation of Christ," by Thomas A. Kempis

- The Disciple

TRUSTING in Your goodness and great mercy, O Lord, I come as one
sick to the Healer, as one hungry and thirsty to the Fountain of
life, as one in need to the King of heaven, a servant to his Lord,
a creature to his Creator, a soul in desolation to my gentle
Comforter.

But whence is this to me, that You should come to me? Who am I that
You should offer Yourself to me? How dares the sinner to appear in
Your presence, and You, how do You condescend to come to the
sinner? You know Your servant, and You know that he has nothing
good in him that You should grant him this.
