ANNUAL APPEAL

This past year we made several significant changes in our Internet
ministry offerings. A major one was to remove the registration fee
from all premium forums at http://shalomplace.org/eve/forums These
were, previously, workshops and retreats that had been presented in
Lent or Easter seasons. Following the series, however,
registration dwindled and there was little activity on these
forums. We decided to drop the fee and open these up so that
anyone could benefit from the information and sharing, and this has
resulted in many more views.

While we're on the topic of the discussion board, I will share with
you the recent stats I reported to the team for the October 2010
report:
1,226 members
66,108 page views (October)
21 forums open
2,376 topics open
37,026 posts

No, that's not a typo for "topics open" and "posts." And the good
thing is that you can use the search tool to find the topic that
interests you, or you can browse the topics in each forum. That's
different from how most blogs work, not to mention that this
bulletin board allows any registered member to start a new topic in
the general discussions area. Quite a resource!

MESSAGE OF THE DAY

"It is not what we do that makes us holy, but we ought to make holy
what we do." (Meister Eckhart)

Reflection Question for Journaling:
Eckhart writes, "God has no regard for what your work is, but
for what you love...and the intention in the work." What did you do
this day simply out of love for God and others?

Breath Prayer:
What I do (breathing in)
I connect to You (breathing out).

LECTIONARY READINGS FOR THE DAY
http://www.nccbuscc.org/nab/

Rv 3:1-6, 14-22; Ps 15:2-3a, 3bc-4ab, 5; Lk 19:1-10

R. I will seat the victor beside me on my throne.

He who walks blamelessly and does justice;
who thinks the truth in his heart
and slanders not with his tongue.

Who harms not his fellow man,
nor takes up a reproach against his neighbor;
By whom the reprobate is despised,
while he honors those who fear the LORD.
R. I will seat the victor beside me on my throne.
Who lends not his money at usury
and accepts no bribe against the innocent.
He who does these things
shall never be disturbed.

REFLECTION ON THE GOSPEL
- from http://www.dailyscripture.net/

Zacchaeus was a chief tax collector and was much hated by all the
people. Why would Jesus single him out for the honor of staying at
his home? Zacchaeus needed God's merciful love and forgiveness. In
his encounter with Jesus he found more than he imagined possible.
He shows the depth of his repentance by deciding to give half of
his goods to the poor and to use the other half for making
restitution for fraud. Zacchaeus' testimony included more than
words. His change of heart resulted in a change of life, a change
that the whole community could experience as genuine.

The Lord Jesus is always ready to make his home with each one of
us. Do you make room for him in your heart and in every area of
your life?

"Lord Jesus, come and stay with me. Fill my life with your peace,
my home with your presence, and my heart with your praise. Help me
to show kindness, mercy, and goodness to all, even to those who
cause me ill-will or harm."

SPIRITUAL READING
- Notes on Christian Prayer

2716. Contemplative prayer is hearing the Word of God. Far from
being passive, such attentiveness is the obedience of faith, the
unconditional acceptance of a servant, and the loving commitment of
a child. It participates in the "Yes" of the Son become servant and
the Fiat of God's lowly handmaid.
("The Catechism of the Catholic Church," IV, 3, 1)
