MESSAGE OF THE DAY

Lord, You're full, and You fill us with Your kindness, too. You're
great, and we're small. Tell us, how are we to become like you,
then?

SCRIPTURE READINGS
http://www.nccbuscc.org/nab/

Heb 3:7-14; Ps 95:6-7c, 8-9, 10-11; Mk 1:40-45

R. (8) If today you hear his voice, harden not your hearts.

Come, let us bow down in worship;
let us kneel before the LORD who made us.
For he is our God,
and we are the people he shepherds, the flock he guides.

Oh, that today you would hear his voice:
"Harden not your hearts as at Meribah,
as in the day of Massah in the desert,
Where your fathers tempted me;
they tested me though they had seen my works."

Forty years I was wearied of that generation;
I said: "This people's heart goes astray,
they do not know my ways."
Therefore I swore in my anger:
"They shall never enter my rest."

GOSPEL MEDITATION
from "Praying the Daily Gospels," by Philip St. Romain:
- http://www.liguori.org/productdetails.cfm?PC=6614

- Mark 1: 40-45 (Jesus cures a leper)

The gospels do not include a single instance when Jesus refuses to
heal someone who requests wholeness. The prayer of the leper in
today's reading should be a model for all of us because the leper
makes his request in great humility and leaves the matter in Jesus'
hands.

- Do you believe that God answers your prayers? What kinds of
prayers do you find answered most often?

- What are some reasons why you are usually afraid to reach out to
others? Pray for the grace to overcome these resistances.

NOTES FROM A CLASSICAL WORK
- "Imitation of Christ," by Thomas A. Kempis

The time will come when Christ, the Teacher of teachers, the
Lord of
angels, will appear to hear the lessons of all -- that is, to
examine
the conscience of everyone. Then He will search Jerusalem with
lamps
and the hidden things of darkness will be brought to light and the
arguings of men's tongues be silenced.
