Blessed is the servant who esteems himself no more highly when he is praised and exalted by people than
when s/he is considered worthless, foolish, and to be despised; since what a person is before God, that s/he is and nothing more." - Francis of Assisi
(Pray the grace to know who you are before God and to have your identity rooted in God.)

ACTS 7:51-8:1; PS 31:3-4, 6-8, 17, 21; JN 6:30-35
R. Into your hands, O Lord, I commend my spirit.
Be my rock of refuge, a stronghold to give me safety. You are my rock and my fortress; for your name's sake you will lead and guide me.
Into your hands I commend my spirit; you will redeem me, O LORD, O faithful God. My trust is
in the LORD; I will rejoice and be glad of your mercy.
Let your face shine upon your servant; save me in your kindness. You hide them in the shelter of your presence from the plottings of men.

Reflection on the Scriptures |
"The glory of God is the person fully alive," Ireneus of Antioch.
We continue to celebrate the Resurrection. The Resurrection is a watershed of human history because through the Resurrection human beings are gifted with a new dimension of life through the sending
of the Holy Spirit. Jesus, reminding us of this dimension in his farewell discourse at the last Supper, assured his disciples that it was better for them that he go for unless he departed, the Holy Spirit would not come.
And only through the presence of the Holy Spirit are we humans "fully alive."

Selected Quotes from St. John of the Cross on the Journey of the Soul to God by Contemplation - from Living Flame of
Love
Second Redaction
Stanza III. #65. God is leading you through the state of solitude and
recollection and withdrawing you from your labors of sense. Return not to sense again. Lay aside your operations for they will now be a great obstacle and hindrance to you, since God is granting you the grace of Himself working within you.
#67. God is bearing the soul in His arms, and thus, although it is making progress at the rate willed by God Himself, it is not conscious of such movement. - compiled by James and Tyra Arraj
