Kind words do not cost much. They never blister the tongue or lips. They make other people good-natured. They also produce their own image on one's soul, and a beautiful image it is.
--Blaise Pascal (1623-1662)

(Choosing kindness in one's speech and actions is one of the highest exercises of freedom. Be alert for opportunities to do so this day.)

1 Jn 3:7-10;    Ps 98:1, 7-9;    Jn 1:35-42

R. All the ends of the earth have seen the saving power of God.

Sing to the LORD a new song,
for he has done wondrous deeds;
His right hand has won victory for him,
his holy arm.

Let the sea and what fills it resound,
the world and those who dwell in it;
Let the rivers clap their hands,
the mountains shout with them for joy before the LORD.

The LORD comes;
he comes to rule the earth;
He will rule the world with justice
and the peoples with equity.

John recognized Jesus as too good not share. He invited Andrew and another of his own disciples to get to know Jesus. Andrew followed Jesus, saw, understood, and could not wait to tell his brother, Simon/Cephas/Peter. John and Andrew met in Jesus someone that moved and inspired them, and they felt compelled to share this feeling and revelation with close friends and family.

What is it about our faith or our relationship with Jesus that we love and want to share with others? How do we share that "Good News"? Are there other ways we can invite others to see and follow and understand and enjoy?

God who is love, bless us all in this Christmas Season and New Year. Help us appreciate the beauty in our world, find You in all things, and deepen our relationship with You. And may our joy and appreciation lead us to share our experience with others as did John and Andrew. Amen.

On Cleaving to God,
by St. Albert the Great

Divine providence therefore extends to everything, in general and in particular, even including a person's thoughts. On which subject Scripture has this to say, "Cast all your worries upon him, for he takes care of you." (1 Peter 5.7) And again the prophet says, "Cast your care upon the Lord, and he will feed you." (Psalm 55.22) And, "Look at the nations of the world, my child, and see that no one ever put his trust in the Lord, and was disappointed. For who has been faithful to his commandments and been abandoned?" (Sirach 2.22)
