The Internet Ministry of Heartland Center for Spirituality goes back to 1997, which was still the early days of the Internet. At that time, most people did not yet have email, and those of us who did were probably connecting using dial-up modems (ahh, yes: those were the days!). One of the stated goals of the Heartland Center team was to "explore the potential of the Internet," and they gave me the green light to do just that. I sent out Daily Seed via Eudora Pro on my beige G3 Mac (no iMacs yet) and handled all the subscribe and unsubscribe requests by updating my address book daily. That's all easier now with Aweber.com and other list-serves, some of which are free. Aweber is not free, however,
but it provides a range of options to insure ease of subscribing, unsubscribing, list management, time-queueing messages, auto-responders, spam protection and other important features. That all makes my life a little easier as I'm definitely not a sensate/detail type of person! Recently, Aweber has made newsletter templates available that have been tested on a number of mobile devices as well as PCs, and I have begun to use these instead of the old html templates I developed myself. To help us pay for Aweber services and other expenses, please consider the support options below.
Thanks! Phil St. Romain We also invite you to help us improve Daily Spiritual Seed by taking an online survey, which you can complete in less than a minute. - see

Make me what Thou wouldst have me. I bargain for nothing. I make no terms. I seek for no previous information whither Thou art taking me. I will be what Thou wilt make me, and all that Thou wilt make me. I say not, I will follow Thee whithersoever Thou goest, for I am weak, but I give myself to Thee, to lead me anywhither.
- John Henry Cardinal Newman (1801-1890), Parochial Sermons, v. V (Pray this prayer, pausing with each phrase to see how it applies to your life at this time.)

Ti 2:1-8, 11-14; Ps 37:3-4, 18, 23, 27, 29; Lk 17:7-10 R. (39a) The salvation of the just comes from the Lord. Trust in the LORD and do good,
that you may dwell in the land and be fed in security. Take delight in the LORD, and he will grant you your heart's requests. The LORD watches over the lives of the wholehearted; their inheritance lasts forever. By the LORD are the steps of a man made firm,
and he approves his way. Turn from evil and do good, that you may abide forever; The just shall possess the land and dwell in it forever.

How can we love others selflessly and unconditionally? Scripture tells us that God himself is love (1 John 4:16) - he is the author of life and the source of all true relationships of love and friendship. He created us in love for love and he fills our hearts with the boundless love that gives whatever is good for the sake of another (Romans 5:5).
If we love one another, God abides in us and his love is perfected in us (1 John 4:12). God honors the faithful servant who loves and serves others generously. He is ever ready to work in and through us for his glory. We must remember, however, that God can never be indebted to us. We have no claim on him. His love compels us to give him our best! And when we have done our best, we have simply done our duty. We can never outmatch God in doing good and showing love. God loves us without measure. Does the love of God compel you to give your best?
"Lord Jesus, fill my heart with love, gratitude and generosity. Make me a faithful and zealous servant for you. May I generously pour out my life in loving service for you and for others, just as you have so generously poured yourself out in love for me."

The Way of Perfection, by Teresa of Avila (1515-1582) (How not all souls are fitted for contemplation and how some take long to attain it. True humility will walk happily along the road by which the Lord leads it.)
I do not mean that it is for us to say what we shall do, but that we must do our best in everything, for the choice is not ours but the Lord's. If after many years He is pleased to give each of us her office, it will be a curious kind of humility for you to wish to choose; let the Lord of the house do that, for He is wise and powerful and knows what is fitting for you and for Himself as well. Be sure that, if you do what lies in your power and prepare yourself for high contemplation with the perfection aforementioned, then, if He does not grant it you (and I think He will not fail to do so if you have true detachment and humility), it will be because He has laid up this joy for you so as to give it you in Heaven, and because, as I have said elsewhere, He is pleased to treat you like people who are strong and give you a cross to bear on earth like that which His Majesty Himself always bore.
- Chapter 17 (Keep in mind that she is writing to sisters in a cloistered contemplative order.)
