Message of the Day

The person who does not live every day with his or her death does not live at all, and does not know what the fullness of life is! This is where we experience how this accepted humility is the foundation of life. . . Christ has transformed death into the great initiator of life."
- Alphonse and Rachel Goettman, Prayer of Jesus, Prayer of the Heart

(You will die, but death belongs to Christ. How does it feel to consider these statements? Express your heart to God.)

Lectionary Readings of the Day
   http://www.usccb.org/calendar/index.cfm?showLit=1&action=month

Am 7:10-17;    Ps 19:8-11;    Mt 9:1-8

R. (10cd) The judgments of the Lord are true, and all of them are just.

The law of the LORD is perfect,
refreshing the soul;
The decree of the LORD is trustworthy,
giving wisdom to the simple.

The precepts of the LORD are right,
rejoicing the heart;
The command of the LORD is clear,
enlightening the eye.

The fear of the LORD is pure,
enduring forever;
The ordinances of the LORD are true,
all of them just.

They are more precious than gold,
than a heap of purest gold;
Sweeter also than syrup
or honey from the comb.

Reflection on the Gospel
- from http://www.dailyscripture.net/

The Lord is every ready to bring us healing of mind, body, and soul. His grace brings us freedom from the power of sin and from bondage to harmful desires and addictions. Do you allow anything to keep you from Jesus' healing power?

"Lord Jesus, through your merciful love and forgiveness you bring healing and restoration to body, mind, and soul. May your healing power and love touch every area of my life - my innermost thoughts, feelings, attitudes, and memories. Pardon my offences and transform me in the power of your Holy Spirit that I may walk confidently in your truth and goodness."

Spiritual Reading
    - Imitation of Christ, by Thomas A. Kempis

The Disciple

O Lord God, my Creator and my Redeemer, I long to receive You this day with such reverence, praise, and honor, with such gratitude, worthiness and love, with such faith, hope, and purity as that with which Your most holy Mother, the glorious Virgin Mary, longed for and received You when she humbly and devoutly answered the angel who announced to her the mystery of the Incarnation: "Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it done to me according to thy word."
