Message of the Day
When you come before God in prayer, be in your thought like an ant, like something crawling on the ground, like a child lisping. And in his presence make no pretence of knowledge. Approach God rather with the heart of a child. Go into his presence to receive the loving care with which parents look after their little children.

Lectionary Readings of the Day
http://www.usccb.org/calendar/index.cfm?showLit=1&action=month
Acts 18:9-18; Ps 47:2-3, 4-5, 6-7; Jn 16:20-23
R. (8a) God is king of all the earth.
All you peoples, clap your hands,
shout to God with cries of gladness,
For the LORD, the Most High, the awesome,
is the great king over all the earth.
He brings people under us;
nations under our feet.
He chooses for us our inheritance,
the glory of Jacob, whom he loves.
God mounts his throne amid shouts of joy;
the LORD, amid trumpet blasts.
Sing praise to God, sing praise;
sing praise to our king, sing praise.

Reflection on the Scriptures
- http://onlineministries.creighton.edu/CollaborativeMinistry/daily.html
Just as a woman’s awareness of the baby (in her womb) grows, our awareness of God’s constant presence with us grows. Throughout our lives, there are times of pain and suffering both physical and psychological, but our confidence in God’s presence makes it easier to bear those times. Our love for him becomes greater and greater, and at times we may yearn for the physical presence that Jesus’ disciples were able to experience. How fortunate we are that his presence becomes more apparent to us in a physical way with the reception of the Eucharist. What will it be like when we come to the end of our lives, when our union with God is complete? Right now we can only try to imagine the eternal joy in store for us at our safe delivery when God wraps his arms around us and smiles with his fatherly love.

Spiritual Reading
On Cleaving to God
by St. Albert the Great
The thing is that the most important thing of all for a spiritual life is to strip the mind of all imaginations so that one can be united in one's intellect to God by a good will, and conformed to him.
Besides, nothing will then be intermediary between you and God. This is obvious, since nothing external will stand between you when by the vow of voluntary poverty you will have removed the possession of anything whatsoever, and by the vow of chastity you will have abandoned your body, and by obedience you will have given up your will and your soul itself. And in this way nothing will be left to stand between you and God.
