Easter Week 2012
Message of the Day
Let no one weep for sin: forgiveness is risen from the tomb.
Let no one fear death: the Saviour's death has set us free.
When it held him chained, he struck it down.
When he descended to hell, he plundered it.
- John Chrysostom, Paschal Homily
(O dear friends, rejoice, and never cease reflecting on the implications of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. It will gladden your heart and give you hope.)

Lectionary Readings of the Day
http://www.usccb.org/calendar/index.cfm?showLit=1&action=month
Acts 4:1-12; Ps 118:1-2 and 4, 22-24, 25-27; Jn 21:1-14
R. (22) The stone rejected by the builders has become the cornerstone.
Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good,
for his mercy endures forever.
Let the house of Israel say,
"His mercy endures forever."
Let those who fear the LORD say,
"His mercy endures forever."
The stone which the builders rejected
has become the cornerstone.
By the LORD has this been done;
it is wonderful in our eyes.
This is the day the LORD has made;
let us be glad and rejoice in it.
O LORD, grant salvation!
O LORD, grant prosperity!
Blessed is he who comes in the name of the LORD;
we bless you from the house of the LORD.
The LORD is God, and he has given us light.

Reflection on the Scriptures
- http://onlineministries.creighton.edu/CollaborativeMinistry/daily.html
Just as Jesus appeared to the disciples in the midst of their work and their attempt at fishing, God is with me where I am. I can invite his presence in the morning while I eat my toast or my oatmeal. As breakfast helps ready me for the day ahead, my prayers can help fuel my spirit and my heart, to open myself to ask for God's help to meet the challenges and to recognize the joys. I want to be ready to thank God for all I have.
The disciples and apostles had to get used to the reality of the resurrected Jesus. My prayer is that I build my own life on that cornerstone. How do I reflect the reality of the resurrected Jesus in my own life? How will I celebrate the resurrected Jesus in my own life today and everyday? "This is the day the Lord has made; let us be glad and rejoice in it." Let me be ready to face the day with fuel for my spirit and my heart.
