He does not believe, that does not live according to his belief.

Lectionary Readings of the Day
http://www.usccb.org/calendar/index.cfm?showLit=1&action=month
Rom 14:7-12; Ps 27:1bcde, 4, 13-14; Lk 15:1-10
R. ( 13) I believe that I shall see the good things of the Lord in the land of the living.
The LORD is my light and my salvation;
whom should I fear?
The LORD is my life's refuge;
of whom should I be afraid?
One thing I ask of the LORD;
this I seek:
To dwell in the house of the LORD
all the days of my life,
That I may gaze on the loveliness of the LORD
and contemplate his temple.
I believe that I shall see the bounty of the LORD
in the land of the living.
Wait for the LORD with courage;
be stouthearted, and wait for the LORD.

Reflection on the Gospel
- from Daily Bread
http://www.preacherexchange.com/daily_bread.htm
There will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous people.
Luke and Matthew include the parable of the lost sheep, but to emphasize heaven's joy when the lost are found, Luke adds two additional images -- the woman and her lost coin and the story of the prodigal son. There is an annoyed elder brother in most of us -- that dark part of us that feels like we deserve more than someone else. But God's gift is the same to all. The gift is all of God's self; there is no such thing as just a piece of God. How can we dare to want more than all of God? Something to ponder at the Eucharist.
O God, give me a generous heart and the humility to recognize all as undeserved gift.

Spiritual Reading
- Imitation of Christ, by Thomas A. Kempis
The Disciple
In truth, I possess and adore Him Whom the angels adore in heaven -- I as yet by faith, they face to face unveiled. I must be content with the light of the true faith and walk in it until the day of eternal brightness dawns and the shadow of figures passes away. When, moreover, that which is perfect shall have come, the need of sacraments shall cease, for the blessed in heavenly glory need no healing sacrament. Rejoicing endlessly in the presence of God, beholding His glory face to face, transformed from their own brightness to the brightness of the ineffable Deity, they taste the Word of God made flesh, as He was in the beginning and will remain in eternity.
