MESSAGE OF THE DAY
To realize that you are safe and happy standing at God's side, with
His love encompassing you because you are forgiven; too happy to
take offense any more; too much in love with life to want to be
made miserable with an unforgiving heart, and that now every
conflict is a chance to learn more of the exceeding beauty of Love:
that is worth living for, and surely worth dying to this
misery-making self for.
- Florence Allshorn (1887-1950), "The Notebooks of Florence
Allshorn"

MEDITATION ON THE GOSPEL
- from "Daily Bread"
http://www.preacherexchange.com/daily_bread.htm
"Gross is the heart of this people."
Jesus sounds like he is losing patience with those who will not
believe in him. He implies that some people choose to be obtuse.
And why? If they hear, they may believe. If they believe, they may
convert. If they convert ... then change is required. Jesus will heal
them. They will be different. Everything they believe, beliefs that
have defined them and given meaning to their existence -- all this
would be threatened ... or so it seems. Discipleship is not a walk in
the park. If discipleship does not challenge us, then perhaps we
must ask, "Why not?"
"St. Lawrence and all you saints, pray for us that we may fervent
in our faith and dedicated in our practice."

SPIRITUAL READING
- "Imitation of Christ," by Thomas A. Kempis
The Disciple
I offer You also all the holy desires of Your devoted servants, the
needs of my parents, friends, brothers, sisters, and all who are
dear to me; of all who for Your sake have been kind to me or to
others; of all who have wished and asked my prayers and Masses for
them and theirs, whether they yet live in the flesh or are now
departed from this world, that they may all experience the help of
Your grace, the strength of Your consolation, protection from
dangers, deliverance from punishment to come, and that, free from
all evils, they may gladly give abundant thanks to You.
