MESSAGE OF THE DAY

There's a self-expansive aspect of gratitude. Very possibly it's a little known law of nature: the more gratitude you have, the more you have to be grateful for.
   - Elaine St. James

(What are you grateful for these days?  Voice your gratitude to God, and let this become, for you, a regular practice.)

SCRIPTURE READINGS
      http://www.nccbuscc.org/nab/

Gn 44:18-21, 23b-29; 45:1-5;   Ps 105:16-17, 18-19, 20-21;   Mt 10:7-15

R.    (5a) Remember the marvels the Lord has done.

When the LORD called down a famine on the land
and ruined the crop that sustained them,
He sent a man before them,
Joseph, sold as a slave.

They had weighed him down with fetters,
and he was bound with chains,
Till his prediction came to pass
and the word of the LORD proved him true.

The king sent and released him,
the ruler of the peoples set him free.
He made him lord of his house
and ruler of all his possessions.

- Matthew 10:7-15 (The command to travel light)

Jesus sends his disciples out into the towns and countryside with a simple message and a powerful ministry. They are to prepare the people for his own visitation. The disciples are told that though this task is worthy of room and board, some will reject them. Thus it is for all who try to be ministers of the gospel.

• Do you do your share to help support people committed to full-time ministry in the Church? What can you contribute of your time, talent, and money?

• Spend some time with the passage ‘The gifts you have received return as gifts.” What are some of your gifts? How do you share these with others? What happens to you when you cling to your giftedness?

THE IMITATION OF CHRIST
    - by Thomas a Kempis -

What more is there for Your servant to say to You unless, with his
iniquity and vileness always in mind, he humbles himself before You?
Nothing among all the wonders of heaven and earth is like to You. Your
works are exceedingly good, Your judgments true, and Your providence
rules the whole universe. May You be praised and glorified, therefore,
O Wisdom of the Father. Let my lips and my soul and all created things
unite to praise and bless You.
