MESSAGE OF THE DAY
Kind Christ, you are my only hope. Come to me. Don't be slow to visit my heart, which desperately needs your love. Fill it with divine grace. Join my mind and soul. Make them burn in You who are flame without smoke always, wholly resplendent.
- Umilta of Faenza, "Sermons"
(Amen!)

(19a) The Lord has established his throne in heaven.
Bless the LORD, O my soul;
and all my being, bless his holy name.
Bless the LORD, O my soul,
and forget not all his benefits.
For as the heavens are high above the earth,
so surpassing is his kindness toward those who fear him.
As far as the east is from the west,
so far has he put our transgressions from us.
The LORD has established his throne in heaven,
and his kingdom rules over all.
Bless the LORD, all you his angels,
you mighty in strength, who do his bidding.
Bless the LORD, O my soul;
and all my being, bless his holy name.

Praying the Daily Gospels

- John 21:15-19 (We now live for God)
Peter had denied Jesus three times and Jesus knew Peter must have felt terrible about this. That is why Jesus now gives Peter an opportunity to affirm his love by asking his disciple three times, ‘Do you love me?” With Peter’s affirmative responses, Jesus states that acceptance of his love- should move us to share our lives with others.
• How does God
“put a belt around you and take you where you would rather
not go”? What kind of person would you be if you were not
committed to following Jesus Christ?
• Hear Jesus asking you, Do you love me?” After a few minutes, give him your response.
• Hear Jesus asking you, Do you love me?” After a few minutes, give him your response.

ABANDONMENT TO DIVINE PROVIDENCE
- by Jean Pierre de Caussade, S.J.
There are remarkably few extraordinary characteristics in the outward events
of the life of the most holy Virgin, at least there are none recorded in
holy Scripture. Her exterior life is represented as very ordinary and
simple. She did and suffered the same things that anyone in a similar state
of life might do or suffer. She goes to visit her cousin Elizabeth as her
other relatives did. She took shelter in a stable in consequence of her
poverty. She returned to Nazareth from whence she had been driven by the
persecution of Herod, and lived there with Jesus and Joseph, supporting
themselves by the work of their hands. It was in this way that the holy
family gained their daily bread. But what a divine nourishment Mary and
Joseph received from this daily bread for the strengthening of their faith!
It is like a sacrament to sanctify all their moments. What treasures of
grace lie concealed in these moments filled, apparently, by the most
ordinary events. That which is visible might happen to anyone, but the
invisible, discerned by faith, is no less than God operating very great
things.
