MESSAGE OF THE DAY
The soul which has come into intimate contact with God in the
silence of the prayer chamber is never out of conscious touch with
the Father; the heart is always going out to Him in loving
communion, and the moment the mind is released from the task upon
which it is engaged, it returns as naturally to God as the bird
does to its nest. What a beautiful conception of prayer we get if
we regard it in this light.

SCRIPTURE READINGS
http://www.nccbuscc.org/nab/
2 Tm 1:1-8; Ps. 96:1-2a, 2b-3, 7-8a, 1; Mk 3:31-35
R. (3) Proclaim God's marvelous deeds to all the nations.
Sing to the Lord a new song;
sing to the Lord, all you lands.
Sing to the Lord; bless his name.
Announce his salvation, day after day.
Tell his glory among the nations;
among all peoples, his wondrous deeds.
Give to the Lord, you families of nations,
give to the Lord glory and praise;
give to the Lord the glory due his name!
Say among the nations: The Lord is king.
He has made the world firm, not to be moved;
he governs the peoples with equity.

GOSPEL MEDITATION
- from http://www.dailyscripture.net/
An early Christian martyr once said that "a Christian's only
relatives are the saints" - namely those who have been redeemed by
the blood of Christ and adopted as sons and daughters of God. Those
who have been baptized into Jesus Christ and who live as his
disciples enter into a new family, a family of "saints" here on
earth and in heaven. Jesus changes the order of relationships and
shows that true kinship is not just a matter of flesh and blood.
Our adoption as sons and daughters of God transforms all of our
relationships and requires a new order of loyalty to God first and
to his kingdom of righteousness and peace. Do you want to grow in
love and friendship? Allow God's Holy Spirit to transform your
heart, mind, and will to enable you to love freely and generously
as he loves.
"Heavenly Father, you are the source of all true friendship and
love. In all my relationships, may your love be my constant guide
for choosing what is good and for rejecting what is contrary to
your will."
