MESSAGE OF THE DAY

In place of our exhaustion and spiritual fatigue, God will give us
rest. All He asks is that we come to Him...that we spend a while
thinking about Him, meditat ing on Him, talking to Him, listening
in silence, occupying ourselves with Him--totally and thoroughly
lost in the hiding place of His presence.

SCRIPTURE READINGS
http://www.nccbuscc.org/nab/

Rom 14:7-12; Ps 27:1bcde, 4, 13-14; Lk 15:1-10

R. ( 13) I believe that I shall see the good things of the Lord in
the land of the living.

The LORD is my light and my salvation;
whom should I fear?
The LORD is my life's refuge;
of whom should I be afraid?

One thing I ask of the LORD;
this I seek:
To dwell in the house of the LORD
all the days of my life,
That I may gaze on the loveliness of the LORD
and contemplate his temple.

I believe that I shall see the bounty of the LORD
in the land of the living.
Wait for the LORD with courage;
be stouthearted, and wait for the LORD.

GOSPEL MEDITATION
from "Praying the Daily Gospels," by Philip St. Romain:
- http://www.liguori.org/productdetails.cfm?PC=6614

- Luke 15: 1-10 (Two parables of mercy)

God's will may sometimes be difficult to discern, but we may always
be certain God desires that people come to know and love the One
who sent Jesus. We
should, therefore, pray for those who have fallen away and make
every effort to help souls turn toward Jesus who leads us to God.
When we do so, we can expect to share in the joy of the angels.

- Do you feel it is your business to try to influence other
people to embrace Jesus? Why? Why not?

- If a person is kind and virtuous but does not believe in
Jesus, should a Christian try to influence him or her to become a
believer?

- Pray that those who reach out to others may persevere in
love.

NOTES FROM A CLASSICAL WORK
- "Imitation of Christ," by Thomas A. Kempis

The Disciple

LORD God, Holy Father, may You be blessed now and in eternity.
For as
You will, so is it done; and what You do is good. Let Your
servant
rejoice in You -- not in himself or in any other, for You alone
are
true joy. You are my hope and my crown. You, O Lord, are my joy
and my
honor.

What does Your servant possess that he has not received from
You, and
that without any merit of his own? Yours are all the things
which You
have given, all the things which You have made.
