MESSAGE OF THE DAY

Stir up the fire of your faith! Christ is not a figure of the past.
He is not a memory lost in history. He lives! As Paul says, 'Jesus
Christ is the same yesterday and today - yes, and forever!'

SCRIPTURE READINGS
http://www.nccbuscc.org/nab/

Ex 3:13-20; Ps 105:1 and 5, 8-9, 24-25, 26-27; Mt 11:28-30

R. (8a) The Lord remembers his covenant for ever.

Give thanks to the LORD, invoke his name;
make known among the nations his deeds.
Recall the wondrous deeds that he has wrought,
his portents, and the judgments he has uttered.

He remembers forever his covenant
which he made binding for a thousand generations
Which he entered into with Abraham
and by his oath to Isaac.

He greatly increased his people
and made them stronger than their foes,
Whose hearts he changed, so that they hated his people,
and dealt deceitfully with his servants.

He sent Moses his servant;
Aaron, whom he had chosen.
They wrought his signs among them,
and wonders in the land of Ham.

GOSPEL MEDITATION
from "Praying the Daily Gospels," by Philip St. Romain:

- Matthew 11: 28-30 (Burdens removed)

When we try to live life only out of the capital of our own
resources, we will surely become burdened. Those who embrace
Jesus' way are promised shared burdens and spiritual refreshment.

- What burdens do you need help shouldering? Tell Jesus about them,
articulating your feelings about these burdens. Ask him to let you
know he is with you. Resolve to share these feelings with a friend
whom you trust.

- Spend some time with the verse "Come to me...." Feel God's
desire for you.

NOTES FROM A CLASSICAL WORK
- "Imitation of Christ," by Thomas A. Kempis

The Voice of Christ

Lift up your countenance to heaven, then. Behold Me, and with Me
all
My saints. They had great trials in this life, but now they
rejoice.
They are consoled. Now they are safe and at rest. And they shall
abide
with Me for all eternity in the kingdom of My Father.
