MESSAGE OF THE DAY

Feed on Christ, and then go and live your life, and it is Christ in
you that lives your life, that helps the poor, that tells the
truth, that fights the battle, and that wins the crown.

SCRIPTURE READINGS
http://www.nccbuscc.org/nab/

Jn 13:16-20; Ps 2:6-7, 8-9, 10-11ab; Jn 14:1-6

R. (7bc) You are my Son; this day I have begotten you.

"I myself have set up my king
on Zion, my holy mountain."
I will proclaim the decree of the LORD:
The LORD said to me, "You are my Son;
this day I have begotten you."

"Ask of me and I will give you
the nations for an inheritance
and the ends of the earth for your possession.
You shall rule them with an iron rod;
you shall shatter them like an earthen dish."

And now, O kings, give heed;
take warning, you rulers of the earth.
Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice before him;
with trembling rejoice.

GOSPEL MEDITATION
- from
http://onlineministries.creighton.edu/CollaborativeMinistry/daily.html

Jesus is the way. It's a message the apostles heard again and
again. It's a message we have to hear and live by. We have to make
that leap of faith again and again. We, too, know the way, but
we're sometimes loath to follow it. We make easy choices and we let
ourselves be led astray. But like the apostles, we have learned the
way. We just have to go in the right direction. When we make a
wrong turn, we are reminded of God's patience with these words I
love at the beginning of the gospel: "Do not let your hearts be
troubled. You have faith in God; have faith in me."

PRAYING WITH SCRIPTURE (Benedictine Approach)

1. Relax. Settle in. Be aware that God is here, now, loving you.
2. Read a short passage of Scripture as though God were speaking
directly to you in it.
3. Choose a phrase from the passage that strikes you and repeat it
slowly, prayerfully, non-analytically.
4. When your heart is full, express to God the needs and sentiments
awakened by your meditation. When you're done, read another passage
and repeat steps 3 and 4.
5. If, at any time, you feel moved to simply be present to God in
loving silence, put the Scripture aside and rest in God.

NOTES FROM A CLASSICAL WORK
- "The Practice of the Presence of God," by Brother Lawrence

I HAVE received from Mrs. - the things which you gave her for me. I
wonder that you have not given me your thoughts of the little book
I sent to you, and which you must have received. Pray set heartily
about the practice of it in your old age; it is better late than
never.

I cannot imagine how religious persons can live satisfied without
the practice of the presence of GOD. For my part I keep myself
retired with Him in the depth of centre of my soul as much as I
can; and while I am so with Him I fear nothing; but the least
turning from Him is insupportable.

- Sixth Letter
To a member of the order who had received from him a book, and
to
whom he again enlarges on his favourite topic. * Encouragement
to
persevere.
