MESSAGE OF THE DAY
"Desire not inordinately visions and revelations (which are
sometimes granted even to the wicked). Those who foolishly seek
after them, and thoughtlessly lend faith to them, are easily
deceived by Satan, who transformeth himself into an angel of light
(2 Cor. 11: 14), and in order to mislead, mostly mingles truth with
falsehood."
- Louis de Blois [16th C.], "The Spiritual Mirror," Ch. XI
(It is also good to be careful not to place too much credence in
"visions and revelations" reported by others. If these conflict
with Scripture or the teachings of the Church, pay them no mind.)

SCRIPTURE READINGS
http://www.nccbuscc.org/nab/
Est C:12, 14-16, 23-25; Ps 138:1-2ab, 2cde-3, 7c-8; Mt 7:7-12
R. (3a) Lord, on the day I called for help, you answered me.
I will give thanks to you, O LORD, with all my heart,
for you have heard the words of my mouth;
in the presence of the angels I will sing your praise;
I will worship at your holy temple
and give thanks to your name.
Because of your kindness and your truth;
for you have made great above all things
your name and your promise.
When I called, you answered me;
you built up strength within me.
Your right hand saves me.
The LORD will complete what he has done for me;
your kindness, O LORD, endures forever;
forsake not the work of your hands.

GOSPEL MEDITATION
from "Praying the Daily Gospels," by Philip St. Romain:
- http://www.liguori.org/productdetails.cfm?PC=6614
- Matthew 7: 7-12: Ask, seek, knock
Jesus reveals to us a God who is generous and responsive. This
does not exempt us, however, from searching for ways to grow closer
to God. It is in the searching and asking that we discover
ourselves, as well as God's goodness.
- What are you seeking from God? from your family members?
- How would you like others to treat you? Make a list, and then
resolve to treat others likewise.

NOTES FROM A CLASSICAL WORK
- "Imitation of Christ," by Thomas A. Kempis
We are weak and unstable, quickly deceived and changed. Who is
the man
that is able to guard himself with such caution and care as not
sometimes to fall into deception or perplexity? He who confides in
You, O Lord, and seeks You with a simple heart does not fall so
easily. And if some trouble should come upon him, no matter how
entangled in it he may be, he will be more quickly delivered and
comforted by You. For You will not forsake him who trusts in You
to
the very end.
