MESSAGE OF THE DAY
"When perfect love has driven out fear, or fear has been
transformed into love, then everything that has been saved will be
a unity growing together through the one and only Fullness, and
everyone will be, in one another, a unity in the perfect Dove, the
Holy Spirit."
- Gregory of Nyssa, "Homilies on the Song of Songs," 15
(Thy kingdom come . . . )

SCRIPTURE READINGS
http://www.nccbuscc.org/nab/
Heb 12:18-19, 21-24; Ps 48:2-3ab, 3cd-4, 9, 10-11; Mk 6:7-13
R. (see 10) O God, we ponder your mercy within your temple.
Great is the LORD and wholly to be praised
in the city of our God.
His holy mountain, fairest of heights,
is the joy of all the earth.
Mount Zion, "the recesses of the North,"
the city of the great King.
God is with her castles;
renowned is he as a stronghold.
As we had heard, so have we seen
in the city of the LORD of hosts,
In the city of our God;
God makes it firm forever.
O God, we ponder your mercy
within your temple.
As your name, O God, so also your praise
reaches to the ends of the earth.
Of justice your right hand is full.

GOSPEL MEDITATION
from "Praying the Daily Gospels," by Philip St. Romain:
- Mark 6: 7-13 (The Twelve sent out)
It is important to note that Jesus sends the apostles out in pairs.
From the beginning, the importance of support in ministry has been
emphasized, as well as traveling light, free from unnecessary
burdens. Simplicity of lifestyle and fellowship in community
remain important values for Christians.
- Do you have a simple lifestyle? What adjustments do you feel
are necessary so that you might experience the freedom that the
simple life offers?
- Do you have the support you need to minister in your daily life?
Pray for the grace to experience support from friends

NOTES FROM A CLASSICAL WORK
- "Imitation of Christ," by Thomas A. Kempis
The Voice of Christ
To some I speak of common things, to others of special matters. To
some I appear with sweetness in signs and figures, and to others I
appear in great light and reveal mysteries. The voice of books
is but
a single voice, yet it does not teach all men alike, because I
within
them am the Teacher and the Truth, the Examiner of hearts, the
Understander of thoughts, the Promoter of acts, distributing to
each
as I see fit.
