It’s that time of the year when I update you on the Internet ministry of Heartland Center for Spirituality, and request your financial support for this outreach.
A Daily Spiritual Seed is one part of what we do, but it’s pivotal in reaching out to help nourish the spiritual needs of Christians worldwide. The first newsletters were sent out during April 1997 to a few friends in my email contact list, and it’s gone out to hundreds of voluntary subscribers every weekday since. Thank you for being part of this ministry, which will hopefully continue for years to
come.
More news in the days ahead. Stay tuned.

Mercy, also, is a good thing, for it makes us perfect in that it imitates the perfect Father. Nothing graces the Christian soul as much as mercy.
- St. Ambrose
(Where are you being called to extend mercy in your life? Don't exclude yourself from this consideration.)

As Jesus approached Jericho
a blind man was sitting by the roadside begging,
and hearing a crowd going by, he inquired what was happening.
They told him,
"Jesus of Nazareth is passing by."
He shouted, "Jesus, Son of David, have pity on me!"
The people walking in front rebuked him,
telling him to be silent,
but he kept calling out all the more,
"Son of David, have pity on me!"
Then Jesus stopped and ordered that he be brought to him;
and when he came near, Jesus asked him,
"What do you want me to do for you?"
He replied, "Lord, please let me see."
Jesus told him, "Have sight; your faith has saved you."
He immediately received his sight
and followed him, giving glory to God.
When they saw this, all the people gave praise to God.

Praying the Daily Gospels: A Guide to Meditation, by Philip St. Romain,
2018 (3rd ed.)
____________
Luke 18: 35-43 (The blind see)
Today we reflect on another example of the value of persistence. The blind man will not he denied his opportunity to meet Jesus and request healing from him. Jesus rewards his faith by granting his request.
• Jesus must have known what the blind man wanted, so why did he ask, “What do you want me to do for you?”
• Do you find it difficult to articulate your needs to others? If so, how are they to know how you need them to love you?

Treatise on the Love of God, by St. Francis de Sales (1567-1622)
____________
BOOK I: CONTAINING A PREPARATION FOR THE WHOLE TREATISE
Chapter 9: That love tends to union
Thus then the kiss being a lively mark of the union of hearts, the spouse who has no other aim in all her endeavours than to be united to her beloved, Let him kiss me, says she, with the kiss of his mouth; as if she cried out:—so many sighs and inflamed darts which my love throws out will they never impetrate that which my soul desires? I run—Ah! shall I never gain the prize towards
which I urge myself, which is to be united heart to heart, spirit to spirit, to my God, my spouse my life? When will the hour come in which I shall pour my soul into his heart, and he will pour his heart into my soul, and thus happily united we shall live inseparable.
