Ghezzi calls this a book of true stories of lives touched by the supernatural. He makes this a perfect introduction to twenty four new friends who are colorful men and women. He sees these persons as human followers after God. “I feel right at home when the saints let me see their humanity.” Ghezzi gives us brothers and sisters who paid their way with blood.
Divided into five sections, this book begins with “Miracles of love”. Here one finds Martin de Porres, St. Theresa Margaret, Saint Perpetua, and Solanus Casey. In “Mystics and Miracles,” one reads about St. Catherine of Siena, Lutgarde, Anthony of Egypt, Elizabeth of Hungary and Clare of Assisi. Next are the “Miracles of Converson,” including St. Dominic, Sabas and Apphian, Anthony of Padua, and Vincent
Ferrer.
In “Miracles to Awaken Us,” we read of Francis of Assisi, Teresa of Avila, Francis of Paola, and John Bosco. In the last section called “Miracles that Changed the Course of History,” there are Joan of Arc, Patrick, Clotilda, Vedast, Remi, and Francis Xavier.
Lives that are exhilarating, tender, fiery, plain, and exasperating are included in this small volume. All without exception have experienced God’s touch in their lives over the last two thousand years. All of these holy persons are men and women who can offer the evidence for which readers are searching .
