To have a curable illness and to leave it untreated except for prayer is like sticking your hand in a fire and asking God to remove the flame.
- Sandra L. Douglas
(We cannot expect God to do for us what we can and must do for ourselves. What might this mean for you at this time in life?)

GN1:1-19; PS 104:1-2A, 5-6, 10 AND 12, 24 AND 35C
MK 6:53-56
After making the crossing to the other side of the sea,
Jesus and his disciples came to land at Gennesaret
and tied up there.
As they were leaving the boat, people immediately recognized him.
They scurried about the surrounding country
and began to bring in the sick on mats
to wherever they heard he was.
Whatever villages or towns or countryside he entered,
they laid the sick in the marketplaces
and begged him that they might touch only the tassel on his cloak;
and as many as touched it were healed.

God and
I: Exploring the Connections between God, Self and Ego, by Philip St. Romain, 2016 (2nd ed.)
____________
Chapter 9: Spiritual Transformation -- God, Self and Ego
3. We Discover Our True Identity in God
I would also add, here, that awakening to the True Self does not signify the end of Ego in the sense that we have discussed it. We noted this in Chapter 8, but it needs re-affirming here, that Ego arises when we need to engage with life reflectively and intentionally, which is a considerable amount of time each day, even for advanced mystics. Such an Ego might be considered an authentic Ego, or even a
Spiritual Ego, but it is an Ego nonetheless.
