If ye keep watch over your hearts, and listen for the Voice of God and learn of Him, in one short hour ye can learn more from Him than ye could learn from people in a thousand years. ... Johannes Tauler (ca. 1300-1361)

MI 6:1-4, 6-8; PS 50:5-6, 8-9, 16BC-17, 21 AND 23
MT 12:38-42 Some of the scribes and Pharisees said to Jesus, “Teacher, we wish to see a sign from you.” He said to them in reply, “An evil and unfaithful generation seeks a sign, but no sign will be given it except the sign of Jonah the prophet. Just as Jonah was in the belly of the whale three days and three nights, so will the Son of Man be in the heart of the earth three days and three nights. At the judgment, the men of Nineveh will arise with this
generation and condemn it, because they repented at the preaching of Jonah; and there is something greater than Jonah here. At the judgment the queen of the south will arise with this generation and condemn it, because she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and there is something greater than Solomon here.”

Reflection on the Scripture
|
"O My people, what have I done to you, or how have I
wearied you? Answer Me!" —Micah 6:3 There's no excuse for us to love the Lord with anything less than everything. He has loved us with an everlasting love (Jer 31:3). He has set us free from slavery (Mi 6:4). He alone has been perfectly faithful to us. He even died on the cross for us. What more can He do? Greater love than this no man has (Jn 15:13). The Lord loves us more than we love ourselves. He is willing to forgive us before we ask for forgiveness. He loves us so much that it's impossible for Him to love us more. He loves us so much it's beyond our power to comprehend. Yet He does not limit His divine love because of our limited capacity to appreciate it.
Therefore, "let us praise Him the
more, since we cannot fathom Him, for greater is He than all His works; Awful indeed is the Lord's majesty, and wonderful is His power. Lift up your voices to glorify the Lord, though He is still beyond your power to praise; Extol Him with renewed strength, and weary not, though you cannot reach the end: For who can see Him and describe Him? or who can praise Him as He is?" (Sir 43:29-33) "More than this we need not add; let the last word be, He is all in all!" (Sir 43:28) Prayer: "Bless the Lord, O my soul; and all my being, bless His holy name" (Ps 103:1). "My being proclaims the greatness of the Lord, my spirit finds joy in God my Savior" (Lk 1:46-47).
Promise: "She came from the farthest corner of the earth to listen to the wisdom of Solomon; but you have a greater than Solomon here." —Mt
12:42

Abandonment to Divine Providence - by Jean-Pierre de Caussade Section V: The Divine Influence Alone Can Sanctify Us
No reading, nor any other exercise can sanctify us except in so far as they are the channels of the divine influence. ___________
Nothing is essential, real, or of any value unless ordained by God who arranges all things and makes them useful to the soul. Apart from this divine will all is hollow, empty, null, there is nothing but falsehood, vanity, nothingness, death. The will of God is the salvation, health and life of body and soul, no matter to what subject it is applied. One must not, therefore, scrutinize too closely the suitability of things to mind or body in order to form a judgement of
their value, because this is of little importance. It is the will of God which bestows through these things, no matter what they may be, an efficacious grace by which the image of Jesus Christ is renewed in our souls. One must not lay down the law nor impose limits on this divine will since it is all-powerful.
