Only those who try to live near God and have formed the habit of faithfulness to Him in the small things of our daily life, can hope in times of need for that special light which shows us our path. To do as well as we
can the job immediately before us, is the way to learn what we ought to do next.

MK 7:31-37 Jesus left the district of Tyre and went by way of Sidon to the Sea of Galilee, into the district of the Decapolis. And people brought to him a deaf man who had a speech impediment and begged him to lay his hand on him. He took him off by himself away from the crowd. He put his finger into the man's ears and, spitting, touched his tongue; then he looked up to heaven and groaned, and said to him, "Ephphatha!" (that is, "Be
opened!") And immediately the man's ears were opened, his speech impediment was removed, and he spoke plainly. He ordered them not to tell anyone. But the more he ordered them not to, the more they proclaimed it. They were exceedingly astonished and they said, "He has done all things well. He makes the deaf hear and the mute speak."

Mark 7: 31-37 (Healing a deaf man)
Again we see Jesus encouraging people to be silent regarding a miracle. To Jesus, miracles are signs of the presence of God in our midst, and he does not want this to be misinterpreted on account of
sensationalism.
• Is there anyone you know who needs to hear words of love from you but has not because of your hesitation to reach out?
• Hear Jesus saying, "Ephphatha! Be opened!” To what/whom do you need to be more open?

God and I: Exploring the Connections between God, Self and Ego, by Philip St. Romain, 2016 (2nd ed.) ____________ Chapter 6: The Journey to Individuation: The Ego-Self Relationship The Open, Individuating Ego The Open, individuating Ego is a “zone of intimacy” wherein we encounter more deeply and willingly our own interiority and other people as well. From this stance, we come to increasingly tune in to the connection between Egoic awareness and Self, and even learn to begin to relax into periods where Self and its non-reflecting awareness becomes more accessible and familiar. This is possible because an Ego
so authentically oriented need not keep the intellect and will incessantly activated in the quest to “make oneself OK” by finding the best strategies for getting and having and going and doing and impressing, etc. With such disquietude diminished, inner silence becomes more naturally established.
