God is as willing to heal believers as He is to forgive unbelievers. Know this, if He was merciful enough to forgive you when you were unconverted, He is merciful enough to heal you now that you are in His family!
- T. L. Osborn

(What healing do you ask of God at this time in life? Present your petition to God, confident in God’s goodness and care for you.)

MK 3:13-19

Jesus went up the mountain and summoned those whom he wanted
and they came to him.
He appointed Twelve, whom he also named Apostles,
that they might be with him
and he might send them forth to preach
and to have authority to drive out demons:
He appointed the Twelve:
Simon, whom he named Peter;
James, son of Zebedee,
and John the brother of James, whom he named Boanerges,
that is, sons of thunder;
Andrew, Philip, Bartholomew,
Matthew, Thomas, James the son of Alphaeus;
Thaddeus, Simon the Cananean,
and Judas Iscariot who betrayed him.

Mark 3: 13-19 (Jesus chooses the Twelve)

Gospel parallels between Jesus and Moses are surely not coincidental.  Moses went up on the mountain and brought back GodÕs laws to the twelve tribes of Israel.  Jesus goes to the mountaintop and returns with twelve men empowered to extend his healing love to a broken world.

* William Barclay noted that the apostles had no special gifts of intelligence or literacy, but they all loved Jesus and were willing to stand up for his cause.  Are these qualities true of you?

* What kind of power does Jesus enable you to realize and extend?

* Thank God for the grace of being a disciple of Jesus Christ.

God and I: Exploring the Connections between God, Self and Ego, by Philip St. Romain, 2016 (2nd ed.)
____________

Chapter 6: The Journey to Individuation: The Ego-Self Relationship

Egotism, Egoism and Individuation

   Egoism is another word that needs to be considered, here, and it is one that I do not find as objectionable. The term is sometimes used interchangeably with egotism, but can also be defined as:
   * a doctrine that individual self-interest is the actual motive of all conscious action
   * a doctrine that individual self-interest is the valid end of all actions
If “self-interest” is overly influenced by false-self values, then Egoism would be synonymous with Egotism. If, however, one’s self-interest was understood more in terms of authentic engagement with other people and the world, then Egoism would not necessarily be a bad thing. Quite the contrary.
   Nevertheless, I think it best to steer clear of isms that might give the wrong impression or connote something negative. That is why I prefer to use the term individuation to describe the activity of the Ego in the interest of developing one’s full potential. This approach incorporates a traditional philosophical understanding of the term, and also the meaning given it by C.G. Jung and his psychology.
