A1 Cor 15:1-8; Ps 19:2-3,
4-5 Jn 14:6-14 Jesus said to Thomas, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you know me,
then you will also know my Father. From now on you do know him and have seen him." Philip said to him, "Master, show us the Father, and that will be enough for us." Jesus said to
him, "Have I been with you for so long a time and you still do not know me, Philip? Whoever has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, 'Show us the Father'? Do you not
believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? The words that I speak to you I do not speak on my own. The Father who dwells in me is doing his works. Believe me that I am in the Father and the Father is in me, or else, believe because of the works themselves. Amen, amen, I say to you, whoever believes in me will do the works that I do, and will do greater ones than these, because I am going to the Father. And whatever you ask in my name, I will do, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask anything of me in my name, I will do
it."

Reflection on the Scripture
|
“He was seen by James; then by all the apostles.” —1 Corinthians
15:7 Jesus selected James, Philip, and the other apostles at the start of His public ministry (Mk 3:13ff). Jesus also selected the apostles to see Him after He had risen from the dead (1 Cor 15:5, 7). No one can ever replace the witness of the apostles as “the chosen witnesses of the Lord’s Resurrection” (Catechism of the Catholic Church, 860). Jesus told His apostles: “He who hears you, hears Me. He who rejects you, rejects Me” (Lk 10:16). Listen to Jesus; don’t risk rejecting Him.

-Readings from Jesus Alive in Our Lives, by Philip St. Romain. Ave Maria Press, 1985. Contemplative Ministries, Inc. 2011. Part One, Chapter 5: Courage to Live - Selected
quotes The resurrection of Jesus casts a new light on the meaning of death and dying. Death means not only making way for the next generation, but continuing our own personal journey in growth. Dying does not signify the imminence of self-obliteration, but the birthing of an individual
into new life. Personal identity survives in God’s Spirit because God is a living God, and whatever God loves will live in God’s life, which is eternal. Unlike any other religion or philosophy, Christianity most powerfully affirms the dignity of the individual human life. For those of us who must watch our loved ones die, the resurrection of Jesus promises that our separation from them is only temporary. Going on without loved ones will be difficult, but we do so knowing that our own continuing growth in this life will bring us together with them in the next life. Because they have died, we must now commit
ourselves to living more fully in love. There might also be times when we sense their presence, and gain reassurance that even though they have died, they have not really left us.
